Promotion Guidelines

The ranks in Star Patrol primarily represent a role-playing element to be expressed between members. This in no way is to imply any member, even a Leader, is “superior” to any other member, but rather to mark an individual’s level of experience, trust and influence within the Super Group in general. The higher a member’s rank, the more influence that member has. This influence is typically represented by the privileges available based on a member’s rank. Simply view the Super Group settings to see which rank is awarded which privileges.

The entry rank in Star Patrol is Cadet. This rank indicates you are a new or probationary member of the Super Group. Cadets don’t have much influence within the Super Group. Fortunately, it doesn’t take much to get promoted to the next rank, Agent. Below is a list of ranks in Star Patrol, their privileges, and the requirements to receive a promotion to that rank.

Cadet – Entry level, all that is required is to accept an invitation to join Star Patrol. Cadets have access to base teleporters and the vault storage, and may place items into base storage (salvage, enhancement, inspiration).

Agent – To be promoted to Agent, you must be at least Level 10, wear an official Star Patrol uniform, and have earned at least 5,000 prestige for the Super Group. Agents have all privileges of Cadet and may withdraw from base storage.

Captain – To be promoted to Captain, you must have already met the requirements for Agent, and also have been personally evaluated by one of the Super Group leaders. This evaluation is typically done by running missions (preferably a task force) while teamed with a leader, but may also be done while teamed with an alt of one of the leaders. The evaluation is done to judge the ability of the potential Captain to work well within a team. While good teaming is what is primarily evaluated here, relations with other team members and overall attitude are looked at. After an evaluation, a leader will either offer a promotion or provide feedback on any improvements which will ensure a promotion in the future. A Star Patrol member of Agent rank may ask for such an evaluation at any time simply by contacting one of the leaders either by tell or email. Captains have the same privileges as Agents, but may also invite new members to Star Patrol. Captains are expected to instruct new recruits in the rules and expectations of Star Patrol and are encouraged to actively recruit new members, lead teams and form task forces which consist primarily of other Star Patrol members.

Lt. Commander – A Star Patrol member may only be promoted to Lt. Commander after demonstrating consistent excellence while participating in activities involving the Super Group. What this means may be different for any given member. Organizing and leading task forces or mission teams for Super Group members, actively recruiting and initiating new Super Group members, or assisting other Super Group members with various activities related to the game, such as badge hunting or completing difficult story arcs, are all activities which may earn a Star Patrol member a promotion to Lt. Commander. Any promotion to the rank of Lt. Commander requires the unanimous agreement of the Super Group Commanders. Lt. Commanders have the same privileges as Captains, and may promote other members of the Super Group up to the rank of Captain, may edit the base, and may change the message of the day.

Commanders – The Leaders of Star Patrol have full privileges and generally can be expected to accept the same responsibilities as Lt. Commanders, but are expected to be more active about it. Star Patrol is not currently accepting candidates for the position of Commander. The current Commanders of Star Patrol are Agent Bowman, Agent Blake, Agent Sharpe, and Agent Wright.
