Background

Julian Rosenstein was one of the few survivors of Astoria. Although only a boy at the time, he sought revenge against the Banished Pantheon for destroying his home and killing his family and friends. He was quickly recruited by Crey Industries who promised him the power to seek his revenge in return for participating in several “tests.”

It wasn’t long before Julian and several other young men and women became the initial test subjects for what became the Revenant Hero Project. Like the others, Julian became gifted with superpowers. In Julian’s case, it was control over flame. Unfortunately, many of the others grew mentally unstable. During a riot in which Crey guards opened fire upon all of the test subjects, Julian escaped.

As his powers grew, so did his fear of one day becoming psychotic like the other test subjects. Fortunately Julian has managed to keep a shaky grip on his sanity as he uses his powers to fight the evils plaguing Paragon City… as he intended.

One of the Crey scientists had a problem remembering the names of his test subjects, and so frequently referred to them by nicknames he came up with. Apparently a Shakespeare fan, he called Julian “Rosencrantz”. Julian continues to use this nickname and has grown to prefer it over his given name.
