Star Patrol’s conduct requirements & expectations are perhaps the least restrictive and easist to follow. Obviously all activity prohibited by NCSoft’s user agreement is by default prohibited by Star Patrol. The primary requirement is for all members ranked Agent and above to remain in Super Group mode at all times. Since the release of I12, all characters continue to earn Influence along with XP and Prestige all the way to level 50, so there is no significent penalty for staying in Super Group mode. The Prestige earned always goes to improving the base (see Promotion Guidelines for the bonuses of staying in Super Group mode).
While Star Patrol is not a strictly role-playing super group, role-play is encouraged and members may have on-going personal stories either tied directly to other Star Patrol members or independent of the group. Members may also participate in stories which involve the entire super group. One such story is the current building tension between Star Patrol and a newly formed villain group, Nova Dominion, which was founded by ex-Star Patrol member McTavish (now known as Banestar).
Although encouraged, role-play is not a requirement and members may take it or leave it. All that is asked is that each member allow other members to choose to role-play or not without interference or prejudice.
Star Patrol is not a PvP oriented group and does not regularly engage in activity in any PvP zone. Such activity may take place however, such as when older members are assisting newer ones gain certain badged only found in PvP zones, or when a particular member’s personal story has events that take place in a PvP zone. Star Patrol also does not regularly engage in activity in the Arena, but does not discourage it.
Star Patrol prides itself on being helpful, polite and respectful of others. Although not absolutely prohibited, the use of profanity is strongly discouraged from being used in Broadcast or Local chat, but acceptible in Team, Super Group or Coalition chat as long is it’s not excessive. Members should always conduct themselves in a polite and courteous manner while wearing the Star Patrol uniform (and should even when not in uniform). Members should refrain from dropping from teams (or kicking others from a team if they are leader) without notice or reason and should never do so while in mid mission (except for when real life events leave no other choice). Insults and such are permitted and even encouraged among members as long as they are playfully intended, and members should apologize in any case when such playfulness is misunderstood or misinterpreted.
Star Patrol also prides itself on being heroic. A lot can be said for “doing the right thing” or remembering Star Patrol are the “good guys.” Most of this should be self explanitory and self evident. When in doubt, a Star Patrol member should ask “what would Superman do?” (And yes, sometimes the answer will be “hit it as hard as I can.”)
