This thread is to discuss the PumBumbler's Totally Awesome Costume Contest announcement.

Date/time: 2pm PST, Saturday December 5th, 2009

Place: Justice Pocket D

See PumBumbler's post for specific details.

There will also be a Team/SG contest with a prize of 1 billion influence to be divided among the team. I want a showing of Star Patrol toons for this. A minimum of 4, max of 8, for participation in the contest. Let's be out there and win a billion for Star Patrol!

I have decided to make Dust Raven my entry for all contests during this event, and have updated his in-game bio to reflect his current standing in Star Patrol and Paragon City in general.

I'm wondering who else will be able to attend and who they'll be bringing. As far as the SG/Team contest goes, Dust Raven uses the Black/Red uniform rather than the White/Red. Depending who else attends, I may create a White/Red outfit for him specifically for the contest, though if we could get at least 2 of each type of uniform in that may be cool.

Dust Raven's new bio:

Quote
Chen Ya was just a kid who hated bullies, but shortly after turning 16, he started to manifest the mystical ability to project his thoughts into reality as illusions. At the insistence of his grandfather (a member of the Midnight Squad), Chen Ya was given into the care of Star Patrol to see to his training. Under their care, he proved to be quite impertinent and brash, with wise cracks and witty insults being the more noted of his "special talents".

In October 2008, Chen Ya turned 18 and became an official member of Star Patrol. Shortly thereafter, he also joined the Midnight Squad to become Star Patrol's primary liaison with their organization.

Over the years, Chen Ya has proven himself to be a valuable and dedicated member of Star Patrol and a recognized hero in Paragon City, although his disrespect for traditional authority has held him back from greater pursuits.

The name Chen Ya translates to "Dust Raven" in English, which he uses among his non-Mandarin speaking friends.

That was, in fact, part of my question - do we want to have a unified look, or do we want to have representation from both the "normal" and "Special Operations" sides of SP? I've always assumed that several of my SP characters have both, but just use one almost exclusively; Sharpe, Nacht, Valentino and Traxler come to mind, the latter 3 normally wearing the Spec Ops version. I think it'd be kinda cool to represent both "sides" of SP evenly as possible. I can even switch to the SP "dress" uniform at some point, to emphasize the thought that has gone into the group canon.

As a general rule, I'd prefer to bring Sharpe. His normal SG wear is the red and white. His updated bio for the contest:

Quote
Ray Sharpe is an interesting case: while technically a mutant, his mutation allows him to control raw magical energies for various effects, without the need for incantations. This mutation began to manifest shortly after high school, while Sharpe was still a young cadet in the Freedom Corps. Longbow was interested in training him as a future Ballista, but Agent Eli Bowman convinced him to instead become one of the founders of the nascent Star Patrol. Since then, Sharpe has become the commander of both the Magic and Mutant divisions of the Star Patrol and liason to General Hammond in Firebase Zulu, roles he finds both challenging and rewarding.

Originally a very light-hearted, and often flirtatious, member of Star Patrol, harsh experience has given him a more mature perspective recently. With time, and the magical training he's received from allies in the Cabal and Midnight Squad, he is slowly growing into the leadership role fate has thrust him into.

With assurance of a leader role being filled by Sharpe, that leaves me a bit more open. On Justice, of all my heroside characters, I like Captain Tenacity's name and bio best, so I will be transferring SGs with him (at least temporarily, maybe permanent) and making him a Star Patrol outfit. I also need to rework his main costume and bio... while I love his costume as it is, it's not the most original, so I'll have to come up with something a bit more interesting. I'll also add a short note to the end of his bio regarding joining Star Patrol.

I would love to be there, but I have a Board meeting that night and Christmas Tea the day after, so I'm going to be either doing legal reviews or cooking.

Good luck to everyone who enters.

I'd love to participate.  Currently, Leading Lady, Agent Chosech, Agent Marstead, and Special Agent Derre are all in the Star Patrol "uniform."

Of course, some of them are more in uniform than others.  Leading Lady, though she has my favorite costumes, is the farthest from "typical" - heavy armor, helmet, veil/faceguard, and unusual boots means she looks less like everyone else.  Whether or not that is a good thing, I don't know.  She is in white and red.

Agent Marstead is also in white and red.  His costume is the "typical" Star Patrol uniform under a red trenchcoat.

Special Agent Derre is in black and red, but he has the most conventional outfit.  I could very easily change his colors to white and red, and he could basically serve as the model for uniform requirements.  He is also black (that is, his in-game ethnicity is African-American), which might add a little diversity to the line up.

Agent Chosech is also in black and red.  His outfit is fairly conventional, but with the "Shadow"-style face covering, and round glasses.

I should be able to participate, but I'd like some feedback as to which character to pick.  If nobody cares, I'll go as Leading Lady, since she is my "main character," hero-side.
