Each board has been assigned board moderators. For the various super/villain group boards, the moderator is the leader/primary representative of that group, while other boards default to Dust Raven.

Welcome, Void Guardians

We have a new coalition – the Void Guardians, led by Dirk Raiden. Be sure and say hi if you see him about.

Group is primarily arcane/mystical in focus, somewhat grim and hardened, if the leader himself is any indicator, and like many of us, he’s in that “casual RP” realm. If you whip up an arcane hero that doesn’t quite feel like a potential Star Patroller, see about looking him up. You can also bug me to check my global friend list and see if he’s lurking about.

Halloween Costume Salvage

Thanks to the 2009 Halloween Event, the stocks of Halloween costume salvage in the base have been filled. There are currently 30 full sets available to new and current members who have not yet gotten their extra costume slot from Annah in Croatoa. If you have not yet gotten this costume slot, send a tell to a leader or commander who will retrieve the salvage for you. However, the stocks are not to be used until after the Halloween event has ended and the costume salvage is no longer freely available through trick or treating.

As a reminder, the purpose of maintaining and distributing a stock of costume salvage is to allow all members of Star Patrol to have at least one costume slot in addition to the one used for the supergroup uniform.

Forum Logins

As a reminder, it is not possible to register for a forum login on the forums themselves. Instead new members should register at http://www.star-patrol.net/wp-login.php?action=register to create a login that will be used for both the blog and the forum.

Existing members of the blog MUST login to the blog and update/confirm their password. Once this is done, their blog login and password can be used on the forum. To update/confirm your password, login using the link at the bottom of the sidebar to the right (http://www.star-patrol.net/wp-login.php), scroll to the bottom of the page and type in your new/current password (twice) and click Update Profile.

Forums are now Active!

The Star Patrol forums are [more or less] complete and are open for use! Before logging into the forums you must first log in to your star patrol subscription account here and confirm your password. Once this is done you may then log into the forums by clicking the “Forums” link on the home page.

All of the forums are completely open with the exception of the boards in Announcements & Events. In these only moderators and administrators may post new threads, but anyone may reply to threads in the Events and Announcement Discussion boards.

We currently have no official forum rules, but as a general guideline keep things civil, play nice, and don’t do anything that you think might get you in trouble anywhere else.

And of course… have fun!

Forum Coming Soon

I’m just about done with the forum. I have the theme for it installed and it appears to be working. What I’m doing next is importing everyone’s subscriber login for the main site into the forum so everyone will have only a single login and password to keep track of. Once I’ve completed the import everyone will need to login to the main site, then update/confirm their password once logged in. This will set the password for the forum. I should have the import done by Sunday.

Also, while I’m taking care of all of this, are there any specific forum categories you all want to see? I’m planning a place for announcements and news (same as what you’ll find here) and a place to discuss that news (much like the CoH site has it in their forums), a place for setting up in game events related to Star Patrol, a place to discuss issues with Nova Dominion and other SG/VG related to Star Patrol, a place for posting fan fiction, a place for organizing/summarizing online RP activity and a place for participate in RP directly on the forums for those who can’t meet up online. Is there anything else we should have?

Site Updated

The website has been successfully updated with the new design and everything seems to be working. I’ve still got some work to do on the forum, but that should be finished by the end of the week. My primary concern is to get the main site content republished and make sure everything does in fact work as intended. If anyone sees any oddities in the new design please comment here for now.

Torroes Prime comic idea

@Torroes Prime is looking to create a City of Heroes screenshot comic based around one of his characters in the Nova Dominion. The project is still in the early planning stages, and Torroes is looking for feedback (and possible guest stars) from the Star Patrol community. Things will be going more or less unplanned this weekend for Star Patrol, so stay alert on the Star Patrol global channel and watch the MotD for information on imminent plans for TFs, raids and other activities. Also remember @ScooterTwo has provided us use of a Vent server to assist in communication which could become invaluable when on a full team and you don’t have time to type.

If you have a particular Star Patrol member (or anyone else on Justice, red or blue side), comment here with the name, archetype, level and the times you’ll be available to play this weekend to make it a bit easier to coordinate level dependent TFs.

Dropping Dropships

As the Rikti Invasion weekend draws to a close I had the pleasure of participating in a “dropship raid.” As you may guess, this type of raid involves a larger number of heroes (or villains) ganging up on a rikti dropship in order to destroy it. This is no small task. However, unlike other raids I’ve been on (ship raids in the RWZ or Hami raids for example), a dropship raid seems to require no more finesse or planning than getting a larger number of characters in one place then shouting “get it!” as the war walls go down. Seriously, there were roughly 70 heroes massed near the northwest corner of Steel Canyon, all huddled together with no plan other than to ensure everyone could get into the air. No arrangements for healing, buffing or other such luxuries other than what appeared to be a sure-if-you-can-but-keep-up mentality. The only broadcast mention of such things I caught was Agent Tavarisch kindly asking not to be Speedboosted while she filmed. So that’s the way it went… first sight of a dropship and three score of heroes of various levels and archetypes descended (well, ascended) upon it like a swarm of drunken locusts.

And it went down fast.

And then another went down… and another… ten in total I believe. The sight of dropship after dropship falling from the sky as they fell apart and ultimately exploded not unlike the death throws of a Death Star. It was most satisfying.

Of course, since a member of Star Patrol was present, I leave you with the following screenshot while we await @Samuraiko’s video…
