Updating Star-Patrol.net
Within the next week Star-Patrol.net will receive a major update in design and functionality. This will include a new theme for the wordpress engine which will allow for a more up-to-date look and feel, but also allow for a number of new features which will be added to the website. Most notable of these will be a fully functioning forum. The forum will require a separate login but will otherwise run on the same server and will use the same login info which is currently used for subscriber/editor logins, so there will be no need to create/maintain a separate login for the forum unless you wish to do so.
While I’m prepping things, I’m open to suggestions as to what forum categories people are interested in. Obviously there’ll be the requisite Announcements, Player Events and General Discussion forums. I’m wanting to include a Role-Playing forum as well but I’m not sure if I should sub-categorize it into smaller forums (such as one for general rp, another for rp discussion, another for stories/fanfiction, etc.). Any thoughts on this?

Forums would be a great idea! Breaking it up into managable parts wouldn’t be a half bad idea either. The three you have sound like a wonderful start.
I would like to see more on the members page (I sent my stuff in, did you get it?).

I second on the members page. Is there a way for people to edit their own member pages?
As for the forums, I think Player Events and all the RP can be safely combined into a “City Life” section. We don’t want a bunch of tiny orphaned subforums if we can keep it all together.

Probably more than any other part of the site the Members section is getting the largest overhaul. As it stands now, there is no way for me to make available the ability to create/edit anyone’s own member page (with the exception of the current 4 leaders, who by default are effectively admins/authors/moderators).
I have an idea which may streamline the current process though. With the update, I’ll be able to create and update new pages to the site extremely easily and quickly. I can create a special email address for submissions (such as members @ star-patrol.net) which anyone can email me their background/bio info and some screenshots. From everyone else’s point of view nothing much is different, but from mine I’ll have an easier time locating submissions and getting them posted, which will provide quicker results for everyone.

I think you should make the RP category, but then sub-categorize the sections to minimize confusion as to where exactly members should place their postings.

MA stories, possibly subdivided by morality (Hero/Neutral/Villain).

What Sharpe said with one alteration. Add a sub-category for “Star Patrol Stories”.
