Into the Shadow Shard

I’ve been talking off and on about getting the Shadow Shard task forces going for various Star Patrol characters (and other interested parties). In most respects, I’ve wanted to do all of these with Agent Sharpe since about lvl 45; the entire place was somewhat “pivotal” in his character development in the 45-50 range. I almost cried when they announced the “Dimensional Explorer” day job badge (along with the others): I’d already spent MORE than enough time there for it. :P

Anyway, some information and thoughts on the four Shard tfs:

Dr Quaterfield Task Force – Team: 8, levels: 40-44, Merits: 111[!], Time: I have been quoted the rather broad range of 5-12 hours to complete this one. Positron, be not proud…

Sara Moore Task Force – Team: 8, levels: 40-50, Merits: 63, Time: Typically estimated at 3 hours. Did it (8-man team) in 2:20.

Justin Augustine Task Force – Team: 8, levels: 44-50, Merits: 24, Time: I’ve done this one (6-man team) in 2:03.

Faathim the Kind Task Force – Team: 8, levels: 44-50, Merits: 73, Time: Unknown, but estimating 2+ hours.

In general, ALL of these TFs are easier for flyers, but with practice and a lot of mapping, a superjumper can get around faster than anyone but a teleporter; the gravity fountains are EXTREMELY fast. The most reliable (IMO) way to get around in the Shard is to have at least 4 team members with Flight and Recall Friend, each with an assigned “teleportee” on the team, the one person they are responsible for teleporting to each mission site. Also a good idea for said “teleportees” to turn “prompt team teleport” OFF for the TF duration, with the understanding that, aside from mission-to-mission transport, NO ONE is to be teleported without their specific request.

Granted, if the non-flyers start parking in the Shard, they’ll build up their day job jetpack accolade; works just like the typical raptor pack. You can also buy a raptor pack from a vendor near Sara Moore for 10000 inf. This is still slower than an enhanced flyer teleporting you to each site, but can make getting around a bit easier for short-range trips.

Discuss. :)

Happy Holidays from Star Patrol!

Star Patrol wishes everyone a Happy Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Yule, Solstice, Yalda, Saturnalia, Boxing Day and eventually a Happy New Year!

Things that make ya go “Hmmm…” #47

Have been thinking of this off and on for a while, but a comment from Torroes Prime (Sgt Richardson) brought it to the forefront for me. Basically the idea of personal SP character “nemeses”. I’ve also felt for some time that a nemesis to one of your own characters, that you play yourSELF, just doesn’t have the satisfaction of… someone you can actually beat up… or GET beaten up by, as the case may be. :)

Of course, making your own nemeses DOES have the advantage of them being EXACTLY what you are after in an enemy, but that’s between you and… yourself. ;)

In any case, it might be worthwhile for interested parties to submit any villains they have on Justice, members of Nova Dominion or not, for use as recurring enemies for various Star Patrol members. Details of the “relationships” between specific heroes and villains should, of course, be worked out between the parties involved.

Thoughts?

The Renovation Crew is almost finished…

I’ve been doing a LOT of tinkering with SPHQ (are we ever gonna give it a name? :P ), but I’m just about done. If anyone has any suggestions, comments, complaints, let me know at @Bloodspeaker2. While you’re at it, be sure to throw a HUGE thank you at Agent Collins for the stacking lesson. :)

ITF December 17th

The Justice-Knights are teaming up with Star Patrol to run the Imperious Task Force tomorrow evening, 6pm MST. As long as you’re level 35+ and can make it show up near Imperious in Cimerora at the appointed time and we’ll figure out the team(s) at that time. If you can make it but may be running late, please contact one of the leaders in game or leave a comment here.

See you in the past!

Uniform Templates

The Uniform Guidelines and Uniform Examples pages now have links to .costume files for default, official Star Patrol uniforms. There are two templates for each body type, one red/white and one red/black. Just place the files in the /costumes/ directory of your CoH installation and you can load the costumes for any new or existing character, then modify them to taste. While the Chest and Legs must use the patterns in the template (Pattern 1 and Starshot respectively) the colors can be switched from red/white to white/red if desired.
