With so many active members of Star Patrol and the greater frequency we are getting together for TF and Trial events, I thought it might be a good move to acquire an SG VOIP server of some kind. I’ve been researching the many options available, with TeamSpeak and Ventrillo being the most popular in the gaming community, and others such as Mumble as potential alternatives. The questions is, do we want to setup something like this, and if so, what do we set up?
Also, if we do set this up, we’ll probably need a server to host it, and I’m certainly not prepared to host it on my local machine. Nor am I expecting anyone to volunteer theirs. It doesn’t look like dedicated hosting for some of these is all that expensive, but we might be taking donations to keep it going. I wouldn’t mind footing the bill to get it started of course, and assuming I an keep it all in budget I wouldn’t mind footing the entire bill, but any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
So what say you?

Star Patrol will be running the Cavern of Transcendence trial on Sunday, 10am MT (Arizona). If so some reason we are unable to attain a full team of 8 to run this trial, we will run any other Taskforce or trial the group we have qualifies for (such as Positron’s TF) or we might just hunt Rikti for a few hours.
Due to the potential length of Posi’s TF, we may be “stealthing” a number of those missions if we end up running it.
If you will be abailable for either TF/Trial, please reply to this post with your attending character’s name and level (min 12 for Cavern, 10 for Posi).

Agent Sharpe has suggested we include some clocks on the website which display the time in other time zones. The idea is to make it easier for players in other states coordinate events such as Task Forces, Rikti Invision teams and so forth. However, I’m not sure exactly how to impliment it. My first impulse is to place something in the sidebar of the News section, but it occured to me the whole point is to let players know what time an event starts and ends rather than what time it is when they are on the website. So I’m looking for suggestions on how to impliment something like this. At the moment I’m thinking of including a single clock in the sidebar which displays Mountain Time and just include the Mountain Time events start in the posts. If this will work for everyone, please let me know. If not, also please let me know.

I’ve made some changes to the formatting of the javascript which is used to display screenshots. It now has a decided Star Patrol color scheme and will have the words “Star Patrol” above the displayed screenshot. Please checkout the samples for Agent Bowman, Agent Caedmon and Agent Raphael. Just click on any of the screenshots to view the full size image.
